"Art activism is so important, because it's everything we know but then allowing this massive space for what we don't know and what we can create with that. It's a really powerful thing."
What do you love most about what you do?
Going to the beach and just picking up the plastic. While working getting into this flow-meditative state and that's a place that a lot of appealing happens and a lot can be accomplished, a lot of purity.
Do you remember the first time you were introduced to art?
Yeah, I was really young and in Monterey, CA. I saw this painting, it was a real textural painting and I remember being really close to it and touching and seeing all these colors when I got really close. From a distance it really wasn't what it seemed. And I wrote a lot of poetry when I was really young and that was the beginning of it and then it was ceramics. My grandma taught me that. I feel like the creative mind is an experience.
